What to check on an HVAC line
- The 2 a.m. no-heat call. Does it mark the call urgent, or put it straight through to whoever is on call?
- Summer and winter rushes. A plan billed by the minute grows with every long call in a heat wave; a flat or per-call price does not.
- Where the job lands. The built-in receptionists book onto your own board; independents book into a calendar and text or sync the details.
- The caller's language. If your customers call in Spanish, Vietnamese or Arabic, check the language list, then call the demo line in that language.

Should I use my field-service software's own receptionist?
If every job lives in ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro, the built-in one sees your technicians' real availability, which an outside receptionist cannot. Jobber's costs $29 a month on top of your plan. If you need callers answered in more languages, or you don't use those systems, an independent one fits better.
What does an AI receptionist cost an HVAC company?
