Trust
What it does, what it may not do, and how we know.
After Hours is a phone receptionist run by a one-person company. A receptionist you cannot see answers your customers in your name, so you are owed more than a promise that it behaves. This page lists what it is built to do, the things it is not allowed to do, and the checks that run every morning to catch it when it slips. Every line here is enforced in the system, not only written on this page. Last verified on 13 September 2026.
What it does on a call
It answers, works out what the caller needs, and does one of three things: takes a message, books a time from your real calendar, or texts you the caller's name, number and request the moment they hang up. It answers in the language the caller speaks — seven of them — and each language was verified by listening to it, not assumed from a settings page.
What it may not do
- It may not record anyone without asking. Florida requires everyone on a call to consent. The greeting asks, in the language it is speaking, before anything else. If a caller says no, hesitates, or does not understand the question, the receptionist gives your opening hours and ends the call. It never talks anyone into being recorded.
- It may not quote a price that does not exist. It can only state the figures published on this site. It is not allowed to round, convert, or work one out.
- It may not say a booking is made before it is. It confirms a time only after your calendar has accepted it. If the calendar refuses, it says so plainly and takes a message instead.
- It may not invent a name. It uses a caller's name only when the caller gave it. A half-heard word is not a name.
- It may not keep a call forever. Recordings and transcripts are deleted after 90 days, and that limit is set where the audio is stored, not only described here.
What you can see
Every call, message and booking is in your console, with the recording, so you can hear exactly what your customers were told. You are texted the substance of each call before you have opened anything.
What we check every morning
A receptionist that runs on a language model will, now and then, say something it was told not to say. We do not pretend otherwise. So every morning, before the day starts, we read:
- every receptionist's instructions against the abilities it actually has, so it cannot promise to take a message it has no way to save;
- yesterday's calls, for any price or trial length that does not exist, any booking confirmed before the calendar answered, and any call that opened without asking to record;
- every connected calendar, three ways: that it still accepts our access, that it will show free times, and that it will accept a booking;
- the retention setting on every receptionist, so 90 days stays 90 days.
When a check finds something, it is fixed the same day and the finding is written down. We publish what breaks at @odilelabs, because a customer who knows what can go wrong is in a better position than one who was told nothing can.
What we never do
We do not sell personal data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use call transcripts or customer data to train models. Text messages go out only to a business owner who signed up, or once to a caller who hung up; reply STOP and that number is never texted again.
Your data, your call
Write to hello@odilelabs.com for a copy of what we hold about you, or to have it deleted. We usually answer within a day or two, and never later than 30 days. The full detail is on the privacy page.
