Call forwarding · AT&T
AT&T call forwarding, step by step.
AT&T wireless takes the standard network codes: dial **21* and the number to forward every call, **61* to forward only the calls you don't answer, and #21# to turn forwarding off. Below: each code, the steps, and how a business sends the calls it misses to a receptionist.
The codes
AT&T call forwarding codes
- All calls
**21*+1[number]#- Only the calls you don't answer, after about two rings
**61*+1[number]**10#- When you're on another call
**67*+1[number]#- When your phone is off or has no signal
**62*+1[number]#- Turn forwarding off
#21#(the code AT&T's own help page gives), or##61#,##67#and##62#for the others
Type the number with +1 and the area code, no spaces, for example **61*+15555550123**10#. The 10 is the wait in seconds: without it the network waits about 20 seconds before forwarding.
How to turn it on
- Open the Phone app and dial the code with the number, for example **21*+15555550123# for all calls.
- Press Call. The phone shows a message that forwarding is on.
- Call your number from another phone to check it rings through.
To stop forwarding every call, dial #21# and press Call, as AT&T's help page says.
What to know before you forward
- The codes work on any phone on AT&T wireless, iPhone or Android, because the network handles them, not the phone.
- Forwarding all calls with **21* means your phone stops ringing. To keep picking up yourself, use **61*, which forwards only the calls you don't answer.
- If calls stop reaching you, AT&T's own first check is call forwarding: dial #21# to turn it off.
